Contact Lost with Hypersonic Glider

Whoa check this out it's crazy: http://news.yahoo.com/contact-lost-hypersonic-glider-launch-163016325.html

An unmanned glider developed U.S. defense research was launched on Thursday but shortly after it was launched, contact with the glider was lost after it began flying on its own.

Courtesy of Roy Gaskalla for bringing it to my attention.

  1. 16,898 Mph it clocked at max speed so when you are on the free way you are going less then 1/283rd of that the earth is only at the Equator: 24901.55 miles that's more then half the distance around the world, in an hour at the worlds thickest part. Now I don't know about this thing being used in warfare, this would put us at a scale far above any other country in the world by the time we know they are coming we could have bombed there national capital (thinking WWII) this is just way to much for the world to handle responsible at the moment in my opinion.

I would really like to hear others opinion on this topic.

  2. It could be used to drop an ordnance anywhere in the world in seconds. It would eliminate the need to have airfields in multiple places on the globe. I would think it'd be more cost effective. But then again I don't know anything about the Air Force's financial bottom lines. haha

  3. Cant be much with all the debt were in though. This plane cam in to existence due to a new way to deploy bombs. Which makes me wonder why are in debt again?
